2. Communicative Competence
Competence is more than just learning grammar rules or lists of words. It is the ability to use language in a way that's dynamic and effective in different social situations. For our students being proficient in a language means knowing how to express their thoughts and ideas in a confident way in the real world. They need to know how to negotiate meaning and adapt their tone, as teachers our goal should be to help students communicate in a way rather than just memorizing to make language learning more practical we need to create classroom activities where students can use language in a way.
We can do this by using activities, like:
* Role-Plays and Simulations: students practice using tones in different situations like ordering food at a casual restaurant or speaking at a formal job interview.
* Debates and Collaborative Projects: students learn how to structure their arguments agree or disagree with others and keep a conversation going.
* Structured Interviews: students practice handling situations where they do not understand something or need to find words.
By focusing on competence we can help our students become more confident and motivated to learn. This will help them do well outside of the classroom. Communicative competence is important for our students to learn because it helps them use language in an effective way.
