3. PPP: Presentation, Practice, and Produce
The PPP model is a popular way to teach English. It has three parts: Presentation, Practice and Production. First the teacher explains grammar or vocabulary in the presentation part. The teacher uses examples to make it clear. Then in the practice part students do exercises to help them understand better. After that in the production part students use the language on their own. They talk to each other write something or give a presentation.
The PPP model works well because it helps students learn slowly. It takes them from understanding something to being able to use it in their own words. This method also helps students feel more comfortable and join in because it is structured and easy to follow. The PPP model is really good at reducing nerves and getting students to participate in class. The PPP model makes learning English a lot, for students.
"Honestly I have seen this happen many times when I work with the team. When students are in the 'Production' stage and they are struggling or failing it is usually not because they are not trying. The problem is that our PPP model makes them move quickly from doing what they are told to doing things on their own. This is a jump. I think we should try something for our next unit. How, about a 'Guided Discovery'. A 'Test-Teach-Test' approach? This way we can give students the support they need. I want to see if it changes the classroom atmosphere.
The PPP model makes students go from controlled practice to complete independence fast.
"Students need a bridge to help them cross over."
I agree with you about PPP technique but, I remember that this methodology apply better for beginners so I believe that could work with them.
